I’m planning to go online, and I’m preparing everything for my site to be ready, I have the domain name, but I haven’t decided on the registrar and webhosting company yet. I would like to know what’s your experience with the most common companies, and which would you recommend. My website is a networking site, for entrepreneurs and I’m planning to make it my business. Thxs.

I use MochaHost and just signed up another family member to them. Here are some good points.

  • They are ridiculously cheap
  • have great customer service
  • They offer cheap .NET hosting (actually the cheapest I've found anywhere).
  • They are cutting edge with their servers.
  • They will also give you free domain hosting for life (never have to renew your domain).

Check it out and let me know what you think. I am also a web developer so if you want more advice check out my site at aquabirdconsulting.com

Impressed is how I feel about GoDaddy Hosting and Domain Registration. If you have a small to medium sized business with a website host that makes you mad every time you have a problem and can't get it resolved, I recommend you change to GoDaddy.

I'm with Patrick here. I have been very impressed with GoDaddy as both a host and a registrar. – Travis M Jan 5 at 21:34
I'm with Patrick here as well. The reason that GoDaddy is great is that unlike other domain registrars, GoDaddy allows you to control all the aspects of your domain such as MX Record and CName Changes. Other domain registrars allow you to do this as well, but, ONLY if you email their tech support. In addition, since GoDaddy is seen as the industry standard for domain name registration (especially in the US), a lot of websites will provide instructions on how to modify the settings on GoDaddy if you're unsure. DO NOT register a domain from your hosting company - they're typically restrictive – tushark Jan 6 at 2:43

Hello,

I would recommend NameCheap.com or Name.com. Both offer low cost domain registration and offer many free add-on services with each registration like DNS Management, Whois Privacy.

Hope this helps.

We have been using Omnis for over 10 years. They are well priced, reliable, and offer great customer service. Also, many customers and colleagues have praised 1and1.

I am impressed with DynaDot.com. Low fees, easy to use and straightforward portal, and a stable company. I have had nothing but excellent service from them.

I'm a Godaddy.com user, and have been for 4 years. I have over 80 domain names registered with them and they're great!

If you need hosting, that's another story. Godaddy screwed me with my dedicated servers (I had 4), and had to cancel all of them... their support SUCKS. I've gone to LiquidWeb.com and haven't had any issues.
