Since I´m in the planning stage of my site, I would like to know how bloggers do with SEO and Social Media. What comes first? Would you say one is more relevant/important than the other? Can you actually leave SEO behind when you are doing a great job with your Community? How much money and time should you invest in your SEO?

SEO in my opinion is more important, especially as a blog. It should not be left out and should come before social media when it comes to a blog. However, social media is free marketing. As far as how much money and time should be invested. That's up to you. You have to set a feasible budget and stick to it.

SEO has 2 stages, on-site and off-site.

On-site deals with optimizing your copy so that you can get the best possible reflection from search engines for selected keywords. Off-site deals with getting incoming links.

If you're talking about off-site SEO, then YES - social media is VERY important, especially with the new event of Google Caffeine. You will be in a better position if you have social media links pointing to your domain.
