Anthony, I think you have a real opportunity here to tell people about your passion, and you should do just that, don't worry too much about what other people will think of your content, just right about your passion and you will connect with other that share your passion.

Once you start thinking about killer content, you have a conflict of interests, stay true to your passion and your followers will stay with you, and more importantly they will tell there friends too ;-)

As I see it, your blog idea sound great to show great pictures and maybe videos too if you're able to get them. Regarding text posts, you have to express what you feel, as Floyd said, express your passion sincerely and be honest. People will follow you because you tell them how things truly are and not just fake advices that you even don't know.

When you reach the point where you feel comfortable enough with your audience, a great idea might be to make a 15 days trip, posting photos and videos you can get with your flip cam as you are traveling. You can even think about building your personal brand as a travel expert in those cities!

Have you got any contact on those cities? If any, you should offer them to be part of your team and spread the word about your site, so people can start interacting there as collaborators, uploading their own content which you will have first to approve!
