I need to get the opinions of experienced bloggers out there.

I have started a new blog on December 2009.

My steps where the following:

I have uploaded qualified content and I have started to spread that content over twitter and facebook.

A few days ago I have read the Google’s guide for SEO beginners and I have tried to accomplish every single step and advice there provided. I haven’t finished yet but the question is: Should I expect for traffic to come for me within some time or should I do something else? Will this SEO techniques give me some results?

What would you recommend me? How can I drive more traffic into my blog?

Well, actually traffic takes some time to appear, it's a process, but you shouldn't worry, according to what you described, you've been doing things quite well.

As you are trying google, you could include Adsense in your blog as well, so you can get some profit from it. The other thing is to continue updating facebook, Twitter and your content, watch metatags, keywords and be patient. That will do!

The most important element in a blog that drives traffic is specialization and uniqueness. If you discuss something that very few people talk about, but everyone wants to know about, then you give people a reason to visit your blog. If you just discuss the same thing everyone else does, then your blog will get lost among the others. The key is to talk about something you know very well in an interesting way, and with enough time your blog should become popular.
