I have a good user base to whom I used to send Newsletter over email (pdf). no website ,,, I now stopped the free newsletter, thinking that I can open a blog.

I can't spend too much time to write article on my own but I have good intellectual to pick from many sources (website, books...etc). That's my USP, I am good at knowing what prosseffionals in the industry need to read/learn. ex: biz updates, career opp etc... so I want to start a BLOG, where I give 4-5 lines write up and then give a URL to the source (some other website). Is this a good idea? My blog will have few lines and link to other blogs... it's like index.. but the topics are chosen by me...

Is that a workble blog? legal? of I have to write my own articles?

Hi mahesh,

As I see it, that is not a bad idea. It´s something like a reviews site but instead of reviews you are going to add some useful and attractive lines for the reader to go about that article.

Be creative with your lines, do not copy content and leave the link to the source you have found interesting for your users to read!

I wouldn't stop your email newsletter. The ability to push your content directly to people's inboxes is not something to look down on. All the strategies you read about in blogging, social media and seo simply try to solve this problem, how to get the content in the hands of readers. Because all your readers have opted in, they have permitted you to push your "message" to them.

Your idea is good and simple to maintain. Alot of people would call this a "linkdump" where you have no actual content of your own, but you promote other people's work through linkage. Alot of times if these sites are successful you become way bigger that the people you are promoting.

check out NotCot.org , this is a very successful site that provides links to Art and design, there is simply a square image and a description for each link. Digg.com is a collaborative "linkdump."

So definitely get your site up and running, but don't dump your email newsletter entirely, you can make it a monthly thing instead.
