I think I have already been thinking too much about this, at the point that is stopping me to start the site. What would you recommend me? Should I worry so much about the platform or should I just start and then figure out the way to move on to another platform if it’s needed? I’d appreciate your advices!

I agree with Greg. If you really find out you need to move to another CMS down the road, you can always transfer content (might require a bit of programming). WordPress is a very flexible system that comes with a lot of visibility and know-how within the dev community. |

Wordpress is very widely recognized as an excellent blog platform and recently it has started evolving into an actual CMS. If your website is going to be blog centric, then I'd highly recommend to go with Wordpress. Other CMS's like Drupal or Joomla are mainly for non-blog centric pages (though you could relatively easy make a blog in either system). It sounds like you should go with Wordpress: It's blog centric, very easy to use and there is a ton of people who can customize it for you on the cheap. Don't worry about the scalability, as you will always be able to "port" the data from Wordpress into another CMS should you need it for some reason. |
