Well, it's really simple if you ask me:

Try to provide quality products/services, ALWAYS. Treat your customers as if they were your own family, care about them, provide them financing services and qualified assistance whenever needed, and, if you own a retailing business, hire qualified and pleasant operators for your company's front line.

With this simple tips you should be able to make your customers more than happy.

I don't know what type of business you have but for example in a supermarket you need to be sure that you are offering excellent products, your employees need to be really nice with the customers, nice cashiers, pleasant music and a nice decoration of the store can help your costumers came back everyday with a big simle.

Don't forget, if you are the owner of the supermarket, pay special attention to the manager you have, he needs to be really nice with customers and employees.

Don't forget special events like the Super Bowl, Christmas, New Years Eve and Thanksgiving Day to create an special environment and select some products and make special offers!

If you have other kind of business I think that Desomnd gives you really great tips!

Good luck :)

This is really two questions - how to keep your customers happy, and how to keep your customers loyal.

The tips given by Desmond and Jodie are great for keeping your customers happy. You do need to have excellent products, excellent service, and an excellent staff. But these are things that can be duplicated by another business down the road, so you need to go beyond this to keep your customers loyal.

Customer loyalty is all about relationships. When you establish a relationship with your customers, the will begin to care about the success of your business. And when they care about the success of your business, they will come back.

So pay attention to who your repeat customers are. Introduce yourself to them and remember their name. Greet them by name every time they enter your establishment (if this is a retail business). Give them little perks every once in a while. It doesn't have to be anything big, just enough to make them know that you appreciate their business. Spend some time thinking about it and I'm sure you can come up with ten things you could do today to start building these relationships.
