When it comes to law, I'm a little weak. I need to know the bare minimum of what I should expect from a lawyer.

When dealing with lawyers, it pays to know just a little about them, the very least being that the owe you 1, The Duty of Undivided Loyalty, Which means that they have to be on your side 2, Duty to Maintain Confidences, They can't rat you out, 3. Duty to Practice Competently, they have to actually try to represent you, and 4. Duty to Inform, that means that they have to tell you about all new developments on time kinda like a secretary. Anything else is extra.
