As if finding investors, pitching investors and trying to get to a Term Sheet weren’t frustrating enough, we still have a whole other process that involves actually closing our round out.

Closing the round is a combination of 3 factors:

  • Herding Cats. Getting all the investors to agree to move ahead at the same time.
  • Due Diligence. A deep dive investors to into our company to verify it’s legit.
  • Closing the Deal. A series of negotiations and legal steps before getting our check.

Collectively this process can easily take 1-3 months and it’s the part that Founders are typically least aware of because what happens at this stage isn’t very well documented.

We’ll unpack each of these challenges and associated timeframes so you’re better prepared to deal with them and get on to closing your round.
