YC is running a bonus batch, and you founders are asking me for the best approach. Here's my latest response:
I’ve interviewed at YC, and we’ve helped founders interview and get in. There’s much online advice about completing the application. Just search online.
My top recommendation is to approach the application process in phases. Start by compiling all the questions and creating a Google doc. Then, begin writing. After that, dedicate three or more passes to trim it down. Paraphrased bullets tend to work best in this process.
What’s worked in past applications doesn’t work today because they constantly change what they look for. But the principles remain the same. You won't get in if your application is not simple and clear, and they don’t understand what you’re working on.
Remember, YC looks for these things in order:
For any members who are applying, I'm here to help. Send me your application, and I'll be more than happy to proofread it for you. Just email me at advisor@startups.com or send me a direct message on Slack.
I also recorded a video for you if you have been previously rejected and the reasons YC rejects founders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbdJoBOHGz0

Oops. I just saw this. I'll send you mine except I already submitted it. I seemed to do mine in no time....I wonder if that's good or bad. (I had applied before 6mths ago).
