Digital Music Marketing

What is the best strategy for growing a email list for my music fanbase and growing my fanbase in general?

The last few years I have taken many courses on digital marketing, digital advertising, copywriting, music production, landing pages, etc. I am a pop punk musician that is using digital ads to grow my subscribers on youtube and I have used them in the past to grow my email list. I'm wondering if this is a good way to spend my hard earned dollars or if there is a better/more efficient way I should be growing my fanbase and email list. Or maybe is there something else I should be focusing on to grow my fanbase?

There are a few things you can do to grow your email list, and then use that list to grow your fanbase in general.

First, it is important to research what works best for you. Different musicians have different fanbases, so the approach you take will depend on your music and what type of fan you are hoping to attract. For example, if you are a pop punk musician, you might want to focus on using digital ads to grow your subscribers. Alternatively, if you are a country musician, you might want to focus on building relationships with radio stations and other music industry professionals.

Once you have determined what kind of strategy will work best for you, it is important to put in the effort. Be sure to keep your email list up-to-date with the latest news and information about your music. Also, make sure to send out regular promotional emails that include new songs, tour dates, and other information about your music.

In addition to using email marketing, social media can also be used to build relationships with fans. You can use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms to connect with your fanbase directly. This way, they can ask questions and provide feedback about your music. Additionally, social media allows you to market your music more broadly to a larger audience.

Overall, there are many ways that you can grow your email list and fanbase. The most important thing is to put in the effort and see results!

I sugest you research this keyword "Growth Hacking".

One strategy that can be highly effective is to develop strategic partnerships with other musicians, artists, or brands. By teaming up with like-minded individuals or companies, you can tap into their audience and reach new fans that may not have been aware of your music previously.

Co-marketing initiatives are a great way to achieve this, as you can collaborate on content or promotions that will benefit both parties.

In a strategic partnership, 1+1=3, as you are able to leverage the strengths of each party to create something even better.

First off, I applaud you for the time and effort you are putting into your music career! Congrats! As an artist, you definitely want to set yourself up, so your time can be focused on your creativity and not too much business stuff. Having said that, you don't need to spend a ton of money on paid media these days. There are more efficient ways to invest your time and resources, and the ultimate goal is to make your media strategy self-funding through passive revenue and brand deals. This is easily done by leveraging social media platforms and leaning into viral video principles. When I was at BuzzFeed and YouTube we helped artists build their platforms into self-sustaining marketing streams. It's all about knowing the algorithms, your audience, and building community through repeatable frames and clear targets. You want your audience to form a community around you and support and grow with you. I'd lean more into short-form video across social channels with really clear and focused strategy. Stay consistent, and go live on the platforms with your music to boost yourself in the algorithms. There's lots of backend tricks to boost visibility. Let me know if you're interested in chatting more about this. Either way, keep creating and sharing yourself with your specific audience! You'll get there.

marketing and advert design

Hi there, it sounds like you already know the basics, with pop punk music a good question to ask is whether your target audience is on YouTube, its a very diverse website but with your music being slightly more niche I’m sure there’s better places to put your adverts.

Have you set up accounts on various social media’s as well as places where the pop punk community lives? For example there’s a Reddit page called PopPunkers, finding a way to grab the attention of this page would really reach your target market.

Hope this helped, feel free to get in further contact with me to discuss advert design and marketing strategies.
