Lesson: Idea Execution with Noor Siddiqui

Step #5 Failure: Learn how to handle setbacks and failures

There's lots of feeling lost just around what should the product be, or who should we approach for an investment, or how should we find engineers. I feel like any company there's like basic fundamental stuff that you always feel lost about.

There are also points where you feel lost or you feel like you're failing. I don't really know what to say about that other than like I said, I think the most important thing about starting a company or having confidence in yourself is that you have to decide at some point that it's going to succeed no matter what and a failure or feeling lost is a hiccup in that.

You have to talk to people who are supporting you whether that’s those investors or your employees, if it’s appropriate, or other people you ask for help or for guidance about what you're feeling because I think the worst thing is when feel isolated and you feel like no one else has felt this way, or your situation is so unique. The reality is lots of people, I guarantee, have always felt exactly what you're feeling right now.

So just really remembering that you're not the only one or that your circumstance isn't unique. It's actually pretty liberating because you're like, “Okay, so that means other people have gotten through this.” That means other people struggle with the same things. Whether it's like you don't feel like you're good enough in whatever way, or you don't feel like you have the right channels to distribute your product, or whatever it is, the point is that other people have felt the same way and have continued to succeed and built great companies.
