A lot of startups focus on conversion. You have their funnel and you want to see how many people get into the funnel, and how many you convert. It's usually conversion to paying customer or, depending on the model, conversion to active, engaged, registered user and then, create a team of people that are aligned with that and sort of operate within the same parameters (i.e., values).
