What kind of software developer should I hire?

Believe it or not, all software developers aren't the same. They can have the same technical aptitude but approach development completely differently.

I like to place developers into two buckets:

-The Architect. This is a developer who tends to lead with vision on the overall architecture and infrastructure of the product being built. They often work side by side with founders and help design the MVP or product roadmap.

-The Workhorse. This developer is all about execution. They receive requirements and are tactical about shipping code on time. They might not have as much soft skills, but they are excellent tacticians who will execute on your vision.

Which is right for you? It simply depends on what stage your business and product is.
