does a heat pump and new roof count as a renovation?  You can ping me if yes.  Respondent or user interviews may work for this. Although I find consumer research on those platforms to be a little hit or miss (70/30). Survey monkey can put together a panel as well for survey. I don't think they support conversations.  You could try intercept interviews at home depot until they kick you out. Or anyone with a construction sign in front of their house.

I hope you get some leads from this. When I need research, I pay an assistant to find a lead source and then contact them. I do what you do and patrol communities. It all depends on the behaviors of your target market. I also use ads to drive them to a survey and invite them to stay posted. Hope that helps.
