Where can I get a customized drone built?

I'm planning to start a Drone company creating a specialized drone/quadcopter but not sure where to get it built. I've many years of experience creating digital products but this would be my first physical product. I'm quite familiar with the China import (Alibaba) process but since this would be a highly customized drone..I'm not sure how would I go about it. I've all the specifications documented and a sound budget.. just need to know how/where to source it. It would also require programming.

You need someone with hardware prototyping skills. You can either get an unpaid cofounder, or pay someone to do it (and worry about getting a hardware cofounder later). For either of those options, you'll need someone local. Look in local hackerspaces (https://wiki.hackerspaces.org/List_of_Hacker_Spaces), electronics / robotics meetups (Meetup.com), or contact relevant departments at local universities. If you're in NYC send me a message and I'll hook you up.

Once you've got a working, proven prototype and want to get investment and get ready for larger scale manufacturing, I'd recommend these guys that combine the two nicely: https://www.bolt.io/pitch

If you'd like to discuss next steps more specifically related to your particular idea let me know,

Depending on the level of complexity that your drone will have there are plenty of places who will build them. One place that I know of is http://vision13.net/ (If you would like an introduction to them please let me know). However, if your drone is pretty simple you can often find kits from sources like www.diydrones.com which allow you to easily and simply build your own custom drone and it is very affordable!
