How to get traffic to a new landing page to collect emails to test a new idea of a mobile app?

Currently, I am using Wishpond.com to create landing pages to test to find an idea that can get traction to inform me to continue or not. However, every landing page I make looks good but no email submissions. Is it because I did not purchase a domain yet?

Hi There,

Your question is related to a very popular topic which is email list building. This is an area where maximum marketers strugle at the start. It is because building a big and responsive email list is not straight forward.

Customers are getting skeptic every day. They take maximum 5 seconds to judge a landing page or to connect with it. It could be even 2 seconds. So thats all you have to convince the visitor to opt-in.

Now I could have helped you better if I could see your landing page. But here are some times which you may help you-

1: Asses the visual appearance of your landing page. Is it connecting or appealing to your audience? Or its just a random landing page having few contents and a subscription box.

2: The headline, sub headline and subscription box copies. Are they creating hype, expectations, interest to the visitor? Without hype or interest, visitors wont opt-in

3: Are you delivering what you promised on the landing page? if so how long you are taking? are you emailing them with bribe contents or giving a discount or it is for newsletters?

4: Are you driving traffic to your landing page only from social media? If so does the landing page matches to the click channel like post on social media or whatever you are using?

Not having a domain restricts you to drive traffic from various places. But having a landing page should generate you some good amount of leads too. But if it is not optimized in terms of appearance, visuals, contents and forms it wont help.

Share your landing page URL. I think I will be able to help you further.

The best way to answer this question is to look at your landing page.

However, I will try to list few things that MIGHT cause this:

1. NO VALUE:
The user may perceive that there is nothing much gained in subscribing to your emails.

2. NOT ENOUGH TRAFFIC:
You may not be getting enough traffic to get email subscribers. Point is, not 100% of the traffic subscribes to email. It may be, say 5%. Now, if are getting just 20-30 users, it may not be enough to get enough subscribers.

3. WRONG LOCATION:
The place where you are asking for emails, may not the right location.

4. WRONG AUDIENCE:
It may also happen, that you might be targetting/attracting the wrong audience in the first place, who don't want to share their emails.

Best thing to do would be to give something in exchange of emails, like free e-book, whitepaper, etc. which would be useful to the user. Also, create multiple landing pages and do A/B testing.

This will increase your chances of getting more emails.

Hope this helps.

I created a process I coin as "psuedo branding" that involves an automated process for gathering emails and testing them around specific products, industries, and value offerings. This process stems from a book called "Ask" and it's been an effective way to whittle down email lists into targeted, valuable potential client segments that doesn't destroy a product brand. Not spam. Smart automation can reel in customer preferences and match them with relevant offerings that actually convert. Let's chat.
